Bristol falls to North Shore 8-2
The Blues were beaten by the North Shore Navigators in a 8-2 loss and dropped back to .500 on the season and are now 15-15.
After losing to the Mystic Schooners 7-1, The Blues were looking for a bounce back win at home to split the weekend home stand. However, the Blues took too long to get anything going offensively. Bristol didn't get their first hit until the bottom of the fourth inning and were limited to just three hits and two runs in the entire game, the Blues also had a pair of errors defensively.
John Hughes (Michigan) had a good outing for Bristol finishing with five innings pitched and allowing only three hits, two walks and one earned run. The Navigators broke the game open in the seventh inning scoring five runs to give them a commanding 6-0 lead. North Shore poured even more on with another pair of runs in the ninth inning to make it 8-0.
The Blues were able to break up the shutout in the ninth inning but it was too little too late and the Navigators cruised to a dominant 8-2 win on the road.
Bristol was able to load the bases in the bottom of the first all on walks but couldn't score a run and letting that chance slip through their fingers came back to bite them. Jack Zimmerman (Dayton) and Koby Seelig (Columbia) carved up the Bristol batting order and once they took a 6-0 lead it felt out of reach.
Over the two-game weekend homestand Bristol was outscored 15-3. However, the Blues still currently hold the last spot in the playoffs with 14 games still left in the season. Bristol stays in state for their next game as they will travel to Rogers Field Park to face off against the Danbury Westerners.
