Bristol beats Blue Sox 7-5
Bristol tied their longest win streak of the season with their fourth straight victory on Friday night.
Bristol traveled to Holyoke, Massachusetts, Friday afternoon to take on the Valley Blue Sox. The Blues left western Massachusetts with a 7-5 win to get to two games over .500.
The Blues scored three runs in the top of the first. Cal Chance (UMass Lowell) had an RBI single that inning to help Bristol get out in front. The Blue Sox responded with a pair of runs to cut the lead to one. Nick Spaventa (Penn) singled to get Valley on the board and a wild pitch allowed the Blue Sox to score one more in the inning to make it 3-2.
A four hit second inning helped Bristol put up another three runs to push the lead up to four and take a 6-2 lead. Justin Ruiz (High Point) added an insurance run in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single. Valley scored three unanswered runs plating across one in the fourth and two in the fifth to make it a 7-5 game.
Joe Dooley, (Radford) Jack Ruditzky (Rider) and Thomas Galusha (Bryant) shut down the Blue Sox the rest of the way. They pitched the final four innings without allowing a run or a hit and combined for five strikeouts. Galusha picked up his team leading fourth save of the season as Bristol held on to win by a score of 7-5.
The Blues are now 15-13 and have won four straight games. Bristol is back at Muzzy Field on July 11 to take on the Mystic Schooners and try and extend their win streak to a season high five games. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
