Blues fall to Vineyard 3-2
The Blues struggled offensively and couldn't get anything going in a loss to the top team in the South Division.
Bristol dropped their second straight game in a 3-2 loss to the Martha's Vineyard Sharks. The Blues are now 11-13 on the season.
The Sharks scored off an error in the top of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Vineyard added another run on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 2-0 in the top of the second. Bristol tied the game in the bottom of the second, when two runs scored on a throwing error. The game stayed knotted at 2-2 until the seventh inning when Jackson Taylor, (Clemson) ripped a double down the right field line to put the Sharks up by one. The double by Taylor would be the difference as 3-2 was the final score.
The Blues only had two hits in the game and both of their runs were unearned. The Sharks out hit Bristol nine to two and are now 18-5 on the season. Jake Lodgek (Miami FL) tossed seven shutout innings allowing just two hits, no walks and struckout seven. Lodgek dominated the Bristol line up just two days after the Blues dropped a season high 15 runs on the Sharks. The Blues had more strikeouts than walks and hits combined.
The Blues are back at Muzzy Field to take on the Valley Blue Sox in game two of their three game homestand. First pitch is five p.m.
