Blues fall to the Marthas Vineyard Sharks
Blues fall short to the Sharks with a final score of 7-4.
The Bristol Blues fall to the Martha's Vineyard Sharks by a score of 7-4 on Sunday evening at Muzzy Field.
Grant Bradley (University of Michigan) was hot on the mound, causing 7 strikeouts for the Sharks, his first being at the end of the first inning. However, he went into the second inning raring to go, starting off with his second strikeout of the night.
The runs were coming in for both teams in tonight's games. The Sharks got two right off the bat at the top of the first, but the Blues quickly responded, making it a one-run game to end the first, eventually tying it at the end of the third, 2-2.
Christopher DiPrima (Yale) reached on a fielder's choice to second base and advanced to second, allowing Antonio Ducatelli (CCSU) to score the Blues' second run of the night.
Kevin Hall (UAB), Ty Fredo (Mount St. Mary's), and James McGee (Kennesaw State) did not slow down. The three players combined had six runs for the Sharks.
After the Sharks went on a 3-0 run in the final inning, and walks by Justin Ruiz (High Point), Evan Menzel (UCONN), and Ducatelli, loading the bases. Followed by a single to right field by Colin Crowley, while Menzel and Ruiz scored, closing the gap to 3 runs.
The Blues are now 3-1 for the season. The Blues are back on the road for the next matchup against the Newport Gulls. The Blues will face the Gulls on June 8 at 6:35 p.m. at Cardine Field.
