Zach Risedorf is a dedicated coach, former professional player, and lifelong ambassador for Connecticut baseball. A native of Litchfield, Connecticut, Risedorf built an impressive playing career through hard work, talent, and a passion for the game that continues to drive his commitment to developing the next generation of athletes.
A standout at Northwestern Regional High School, Risedorf established himself as one of the premier players in the state. A versatile catcher, outfielder, and occasional pitcher, he earned All-State honors twice while compiling more than 150 career hits and an extraordinary .535 career batting average. His senior season in 2014 was among the most impressive in Connecticut high school baseball history, as he batted .485 with 33 hits, six home runs, 19 RBIs, and 31 runs scored while leading Northwestern deep into the state tournament.
His outstanding performance earned him 2014 New Haven Register/GameTimeCT Baseball State Player of the Year honors and recognition as the Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year runner-up. One of the state's most highly recruited prospects, Risedorf initially committed to the University of Connecticut before being selected by the San Diego Padres in the sixth round of the 2014 Major League Baseball Draft.
Risedorf chose to begin his professional career immediately, spending two-and-a-half seasons in the Padres organization, primarily in the Arizona League. The experience provided valuable insight into the professional game and laid the foundation for his future work in player development and coaching.
Since retiring from professional baseball, Risedorf has become a respected coach and instructor throughout Connecticut. He has served as Head Coach for Team Connecticut Baseball and worked with organizations such as Gap2Gap, helping young athletes improve their skills and reach their full potential both on and off the field.
Today, Risedorf serves as General Manager of D-BAT Bloomfield, one of Connecticut's premier baseball and softball training facilities. Since opening in December 2022, D-BAT Bloomfield has become a leading destination for player development, offering lessons, clinics, team training, and specialized instruction. Risedorf oversees daily operations while also working directly with athletes, particularly catchers, sharing the knowledge and experience he gained throughout his playing career.
Baseball runs deep in the Risedorf family. His father, Shane, is a respected instructor with nearly two decades of coaching experience and currently works as a hitting and pitching instructor at D-BAT Bloomfield. His brothers continue the family tradition at the collegiate level, with Jake Risedorf earning NE10 All-Conference honors at Southern New Hampshire University and Nolan Risedorf also competing for the Penmen baseball program.
Away from the field, Risedorf is a devoted husband to his wife, Amanda, and a proud father to their daughters, Sophia and Maisie. Through his coaching, leadership, and dedication to the game, he remains committed to growing baseball in Connecticut and helping young athletes pursue their goals with confidence, discipline, and passion.
